3 Clear Days Over 32

We have been so busy building our house. It's almost done.

Ha. Ok. That was a lie. We haven't even poured the footings yet. Our house that was supposed to be done in February.... and then April...... still hasn't even started. I've been staying away from posting in fear of crying all over the keyboard. It's been a rough few months of standing by and needing a lot of patience.

   Here's the story:

Several weeks after we settled and were at the edge of our seats waiting to dig, I get a call from Jared, our builder. He said he had had 3 sleepless night as he was trying to work out a solution to our problem and didn't want to call us until the problem was solved. The problem was that someone missed a drainage pipe under our property that was right where we needed to dig. Opps. Becausse the city requires a specific easement on each side of the property, we made sure to build our plan from easement to easement. The drainage pipe being there required 20 foot easement on the right. So, either we had to make our lot bigger and shift the house, or we had to change our floor plan.
Jared and the investor who owned the lot went and bought 5ft of property from the next door neighbor allowing us to shift the house over. They paid for it so it's extra yard for us which is a plus! That took a few weeks to sort out and get done.
Then we found out that because she changed our lot, that now we needed to change the whole plat and give all those within a certain radius of our property notice to contest. This took weeks, and then there was Thanksgiving and Christmas and then they forgot to notify a person and then it was weeks and weeks more. Thank goodness Christmas was in there to keep me busy because it has just been the slowest process. Talk about taking the wind out of the sail.
After being bumped and bumped by city council, Jared finally kind of went in and told them to just give us the go ahead to start digging!! After months and months of waiting we finally got to see them dig!!! It was so exciting. The kids were thrilled to see it all happening.

So now one would just think that we would just go ahead and keep building.... but no. We have to wait for 3 clear days with no rain in the forcast with the weather being above freezing to pour the footing!! Ummm...... that hasn't happened since like October. It has been the snowiest winter ever. In fact, it has snowed every day for the last 10 days straight. No exaggeration! So, finding a pocket of clear weather seems somewhat impossible. This process is soooooo discouraging!!!!
Today after quite a bit of pestering Chad (the guy in charge of overseeing our build) I got him to tell me that they were really gonna try to get the footings in on Monday! I will not hold my breath (lie) and I will not tell Jake because if it does happen it will be such a fun surprise. The exciting thing about the footings getting done is that, it's the only thing that is really weather sensitive, meaning the build would be on its way from that point.
Come on Monday!!!! I know I complain about you a lot, Monday, but I really need you to pull through for me this time!!!!!
            To be continued....
