We Are Home!

Sooo, it's been a while since I posted anything! July was kind of a blur. We were completely house consumed. Jake was working on the apartment until crazy late and I ran around like a crazy person all day finding knobs, replacing lights, signing things with the city, meeting with contractors daily. It really seemed like it was never ending. And then. We were done! It was weird. We finished only a week behind schedule.....well the schedule that we followed once all the city drama was finished. We still have contractors coming here and there to wrap up some final things but we are officially living in our HOME!!!!
I'm proud to say that we didn't blow our building budget. We were actually under budget at the final meeting by $800! We did though blow our apartment budget. We ended up putting more than we wanted to on credit cards and emergency room visits, broken down cars, and having to pay taxes for the first time ate up so much of our apartment budget. We will have to be aggressive about paying it off. We even talked about getting a night job so we can do that. We worked so hard to get out of debt several years ago, so its hard to have work pay them off again. We don't have regrets though. Life happens and we tried to find as many ways to save money as we could. We worked hard and did all we could so it was worth it. Just don't tell Dave Ramsey. He would be mad at us!
But the house... It is so beautiful, even amongst the boxes! As Jake says, it just feels right. It's bright and cozy and there is room to breath. We have loved finding our treasures that have been in storage for a year. Now it's time to piece it all together.
Back to school is in full swing, making it hard to be able to focus just on house projects I soo want to complete but I will have to get to them when I can. It was pretty hard going back to work this week. The beginning of the school year is always tough on me. There are so many moving pieces to fit together. It always seems to be my biggest challenge as a working mom...to make sure everything is functioning as I'm gone. I think we are going to have the smoothest year yet.
Well it's a Saturday and time to get busy!!!
